Love Compass – Returning Home to Yourself through the body

There are phases in life when we search a lot.
For love. For direction. For a feeling of being at home.
Sometimes in other people. Sometimes in the next goal, the next place, the next retreat.
And sometimes, very quietly, within ourselves.

What I have come to understand over the years is this:
Often, we are not searching because something is missing.
We are searching because we have lost connection with ourselves.

When searching becomes a habit

Many of us are used to moving forward.
To functioning. To improving. To holding everything together.
Even in the world of “self-care”, there is often another layer of doing:
more tools, more insights, more healing.

But what if this constant searching is not a sign of growth,
but a sign of a nervous system that has never fully been allowed to rest?

A nervous system that never learned what it feels like to truly land.
To feel safe without needing to perform.

What “returning home” really means

Returning home sounds poetic.
In reality, it is deeply physical.

It means:

  • feeling your breath again

  • inhabiting your body instead of correcting it

  • allowing silence without immediately filling it

Returning home does not mean everything suddenly feels easy.
It means we stop leaving ourselves.

Why stillness can feel uncomfortable

For many people, stillness is not immediately relaxing.
It can be confronting.
Emotions become audible.
Thoughts grow louder.
The body starts to speak.

That is why we often return so quickly to doing.
To distraction. To movement. To control.

And yet, this is exactly where the shift happens:
Not in leaving, but in staying.

The love compass lives in the body

Love is not something to find outside of us.
It is a state of safety within.

A regulated nervous system becomes a love compass.
It tells us when we feel safe.
When we feel connected.
When we are truly with ourselves.

Yin Yoga, breath, sound and stillness are not techniques to fix us.
They are invitations to listen again.

Returning through the body

Yoga, meditation, somatic movement and sound are not things we do to reach something.
They are gentle doorways.
Ways to soften the body, regulate the nervous system and slowly remember what it feels like to be with ourselves again.

Not to change who we are,
but to come back to what is already here.
